Senior Accountant

Job Summary

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Accountant with 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role, to join its finance team, with a direct line reporting to the Manager of Accounting. You will ultimately report upstream to the CFO, one of the best and most respected finance leaders in Kansas City. You will help oversee financial and accounting aspects of the Company's operations, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, tax compliance, and financial reporting.  You will be critical to the organization's success, ensuring its accurate and up-to-date financial records comply with all relevant regulations and accounting principles. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

  • Conduct financial analysis, including variance and trend analysis, to identify and report on key financial metrics.

  • Manage and reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records.

  • Prepare and file various tax returns, including sales, property, and corporate income taxes.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in developing budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights and recommendations to the management team.

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing timely and accurate reports to the management team.

  • Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and tax compliance

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Quickbooks, NetSuite, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead by example

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
